Major Committees and Activities

Strategy Committee: The Committee plans strategies and propose policies for JSMI to meet new challenges and materialize the Grand Design for OTC Industry.
Corporate Ethics Committee: The Committee deals with issues related to corporate ethics.
General Affairs Committee: The Committee drafts JSMI’s budgets, operational plans, and reports.
Regulatory Affairs Committee: The Committee makes plan and proposals on the legal issues as well as issues related to the regulatory systems.
Safety Committee: The Committee gathers, assesses, compiles and disseminates safety information on OTC medicines.
Herbal Medicinal Products Committee: The Committee researches on novel use of herbal medicines and cooperates with WHO in making WHO herbal medicine monographs.
Quality Committee: The Committee pursues rational quality assurance and manufacture of high-quality OTC medicines.
Technology Committee: The Committee studies and proposes on improvement of the technologies for quality assurance and analysis.
International Affairs Committee: The Committee formulates JSMI’s international strategies, collect and disseminate information from and to the world, participates in the activities of the Global Self-Care Federation, and cooperates with Asia Pacific Self-Medication Industry (APSMI).
Advertisement Committee: The Committee examines published advertisements and organizes the National Advertising Monitoring Council, and communicates with the national and local governments on the related issue, in order to ensure appropriateness of advertisements for OTC products.
Public Relations Committee: The Committee conducts various campaigns and activities to promote self-medication and rational use of OTC medicines.
Promotion Code Committee: The Committee drafts measures to improve distributions of OTC medicines to realize fair sales activities and stable supply.
Environment Committee: The Committee deals with the issues on the sustainable development and prevention of environmental pollution.
Supplements and Health Foods Committee: The Committee deals with various issues regarding supplements and health foods manufactured by the JSMI members from a viewpoint of OTC medicine manufacturers.
Crisis Management Coordination Group: The group coordinates the activities taken by JSMI and its members to mitigate the impacts of crises.
